Moscow Reports Six Killed in Russian Attack by Ukrainian Drones

Ukraine has reportedly carried out one of its most significant drone offensives against Russia since the conflict began, resulting in the deaths of at least six individuals and igniting a substantial fire at a distribution warehouse near Moscow. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 1,478 Ukrainian drones were intercepted within a 24-hour span, marking what they described as the highest number recorded in a single day, although these claims remain unverified. Moscow’s Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, noted that approximately 600 drones targeted the Moscow area, with 201 reportedly destroyed, and one person died in the region.

A significant fire erupted at a Wildberries distribution center located near Podolsk, about 25 miles south of Moscow’s center. The facility, which spans roughly 250,000 square meters, suffered severe damage and was rendered inoperative, as stated by Ukraine’s military. Ukrainian forces have increasingly utilized long-range drones to target Russian military and economic infrastructures situated far from active combat zones. Ukrainian officials claim that multiple facilities associated with Wildberries have been attacked due to their alleged role in military logistics.

The drone strikes underscore Ukraine’s advancing long-range strike capabilities as Russia continues to deploy drones and missiles against Ukrainian cities and key infrastructure. In Ukraine, Russian attacks claimed the lives of at least seven people, including casualties in Kryvyi Rih and the Sumy region. A missile assault on Kyiv injured six individuals and sparked fires, notably at a major book market where several businesses reportedly lost their entire inventory.

In a related development, a Spanish fighter jet, part of a NATO patrol, shot down a suspected Russian drone after it breached Romanian airspace, as reported by NATO officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of persistently targeting civilian infrastructure, alleging that Moscow launched more than 1,550 attack drones, nearly 1,560 guided bombs, and 62 missiles against Ukraine over the past week.

This escalation signifies both nations’ increased reliance on long-range weapons, raising the potential for further casualties and destruction beyond the immediate front lines.
