Kaylee Hottle, an 18-year-old actor recognized for her role as Jia in “Godzilla vs. Kong” and its upcoming sequel “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” has tragically passed away due to a car accident in Maryland. The Texas School for the Deaf, where Hottle was a student, confirmed the heartbreaking news and extended their condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones.
The fatal incident occurred early on Tuesday morning in Frederick, Maryland. Local authorities reported that the accident happened when a 1995 Honda Accord veered off the road and hit a culvert. Investigators have identified excessive speed as a likely contributing factor to the crash.
Hottle was a passenger in the vehicle and was rushed to a nearby trauma center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver, a 19-year-old, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, while another passenger refused medical treatment.
Hottle’s portrayal of Jia, a deaf orphan who shares a special connection with Kong, earned her widespread acclaim for bringing genuine representation of the deaf community to the film industry. Her performance in the MonsterVerse films was celebrated for its authenticity and impact.
